Membership

Admission is by proposal

Candidates are proposed and seconded by existing members, and considered by the Membership Committee.

The Launceston Club has, since 1882, been a club for the association of residents of Northern Tasmania — with Interstate and Country categories extending the welcome to those further afield, and Reciprocal arrangements that bring members of sister clubs through the door.

Application is by proposal: a candidate is proposed by one member and seconded by another, with the candidate’s name placed in the Members’ book. The Membership Committee considers each application in turn. Members are encouraged to enquire of the Secretary before lodging a formal proposal.

How to be proposed

Three quiet steps

  1. I.
    Make introduction
If you do not yet know a member, please contact the Secretary, who will be glad to arrange an introduction over luncheon at the Club.
  2. II.
    Be proposed and seconded
A member proposes the candidate; a second member seconds the proposal. Both sign the Members’ book.
  3. III.
    The Committee considers
The Membership Committee meets to consider candidates. Candidates go to a club wide ballot. The Secretary writes to successful candidates with a welcome and the schedule of subscriptions.
Subscriptions

Annual subscriptions are reviewed each year by the Committee and communicated to members in writing. The Secretary will be pleased to discuss membership and any other particulars on enquiry.
